Lars von Trier and Thomas Vinterberg saved cinema. We're saving music. But what should the rules be? Any rules you make, the listener should be able to verify. For example, "any instrument in the song must be present throughout" would be one such rule. "Everything has to be done in the first take" is not verifiable to the listener, and so doesn't make sense as a rule.
