Naturally, then, I fell in with a troupe of performers, dancing on stage while they pickpocketed the audience—and vice versa. One day I grabbed a book off an older fellow, which I hid from the others to study in private. It turned out to be a spellbook. Having always had a knack for puzzles (and I find people are the most interesting puzzles of all), I set out to crack the cryptic language, sneaking off to libraries to study whenever we passed through a city. Little by little, I started to unlock the secrets of the tome, and found it unveiled powers to bewitch beyond my wildest dreams. The powers came in very handy, and the troupe got richer than ever. To my fellow performers, I was just the magical snake-girl from a far-off land, an image I was only happy to uphold as I kept on studying the tome in secret. After a while, I decided I had learned all I could on my own, and as my curosity and desire to know more started getting the better of me, I decided it was time to move on from the troupe. I had overheard in one of the libraries that a wizard in Saltmarsh named Keledek was looking for assistants to help him out with a few projects, and I immediately saw an opportunity to learn the art of the arcane under his study. I bid my fond (and not entirely dry-eyed) farewells to the troupe, and headed out on the open road, sights firmly set on Saltmarsh. Still, I never let an opportunity for profit pass, either if it's above-board jobs or ... less so. While it may seem that I am only in this for the money, it's actually all to pay off an old debt from my home country. I am nothing if not loyal to old friends! #### Seductress Efrialé's thievery tactics revolve around charming men, preferably nobles (for whom she holds no sympathy). She will usually start simple using her natural charisma, though a particularly challenging target (such as an annoyingly loyal husband) might warrant a use of her Charm Person spell (in which case she always ensures to have her back towards the door, just in case it fails). Then, once they are in close and private conversation, she will use her Hypnotic Gaze, staring deep into his eyes with a gentle smile on her lips (so that from a distance it looks like simple flirting), while her Unseen Servant plucks valuables from his body and collect them in her snakeleather shoulderbag, thus employing the same tactics that she and her troupe had perfected back in the day. Once he's been picked clean, she will excuse herself and make a swift exit, leaving him to come to his senses as he slowly realizes what just happened. #### Private life Contrary to her appearance and demeanor, Efr has never actually had sex—mostly because she's simply not interested in the men that she targets.
