The concept of moving a vector along a curved surface, and then using it's change of direction as a measure of the curvature of the geometry. If I recall correctly this is a concept in [[Den generelle relativitetsteorien]] (see Zee's Einstein Gravity in a Nutshell ... maybe soon time to re-read?).
