**Shield of Bahamut’s Champion, _legendary_, (requires attunement)** (_Modelled after Raven’s Slumber:_ [_https://criticalrole.fandom.com/wiki/Raven%27s_Slumber_](https://criticalrole.fandom.com/wiki/Raven%27s_Slumber) ) Info for the player: A +2 shield that magically contains a platinum-coloured (furred?) wyvern, once the mount of an ancient platinum dragonborn champion of Bahamut. The shield is made entirely of platinum, painted a metallic blue with the outline of a dragon head, mimicking the symbol of Bahamut. - The wyvern can be summoned from the shield as an action, appearing in a space of the bearer’s choosing within 60 feet. The bearer must don the shield to operate it, speaking the bearer’s chosen name for the wyvern to activate it. - The wyvern may likewise be returned to the shield as an action as long as it is within 60 feet of the shield. - The wyvern is tame and can follow simple commands uttered by the bearer. It acts on the bearer’s turn in combat. - The wyvern is wearing an embellished leather harness, and can be mounted, in which case it can be ordered by the bearer to let itself be controlled by the rider (with the usual restrictions, see PHB p.198), or otherwise to act independently of the rider. - If the wyvern drops to 0 hit points within 60 feet of the shield, it is transported to the interior of the shield and stabilized, (regaining 1 HP after 1d4 hours, and all its hit points after a long rest).  Info for the DM: - When in the shield, the wyvern is located in a small demiplane which it finds pleasant and comfortable, with no view to the material plane. - If the bearer falls to 0 hit points while the wyvern is out, the wyvern will revert to protecting the bearer with its life. - Should the bearer die while the wyvern is in the shield, it remains in the shield until attuned to by another character.  - Should the bearer die while the wyvern is out, it is freed from its bond, at which point it likely escapes to live out the rest of its life among its kin. - In the event that the wyvern is freed in the above manner, or killed while out of range of the shield, the shield loses all magical properties and reverts to a standard platinum shield (of material worth 1000 pp, though it can be probably be sold for up to 10 000 pp to a collector appreciating its historical significance). - The wyvern recognizes the name of its previous master, and looks up with a glimmer of hopefulness at any character speaking the name **Preltell Torinn** (or just Torinn).
