Paul wrote **Too Many People** as a dig at John and Yoko, shortly after the band's breakup > 2. John, hearing Too Many People, was deeply hurt, and started writing songs like **Instant Karma!** (and, more famously, How Do You Sleep) in response. The two old friends were in a legal battle at the time and were dissuaded by their lawyers to speak directly to each other, so it appears songwriting became their communication channel instead. > 3. **Isn't it a Pity** was written by George during the final, turbulent year of the Beatles' existence specifically about all of the fighting. > 4. **I'm The Greatest**—well, this one is perhaps self-explanatory. But this Ringo song is also interesting due to being written by John, and having George playing on it, making it one of very few tracks that almost reunited The Beatles. > 5. **Free As A Bird** is one of three songs based on John's demos and finished by the three remaining members after his death, making them the only true new Beatles songs to be recorded after 1970. The bridge, written by Paul, reminisces about their time together. > 6. **When We Was Fab** – The title refers to their early nickname "The Fab Four". A nostalgic look back by George, also featuring Ringo. > 7. **Friends To Go**, written by Paul after George's death in 2001, is according to himself his attempt at writing "a song George would be proud of". The slightly anti-social lyrics mirror early George songs like "Don't Bother Me" from their second album, and apparently Paul felt so in the flow that it was almost as if George's spirit briefly inhabited his body and wrote the song on his behalf. > 8. **All Those Years Ago** is George's tribute to John, written shortly after his death. > 9. **Watching The Wheels** is John reflecting on his retreat from the limelight in the mid-70s to focus on his family life (he did not release any music between 1975 and 1980) > 10. **Never Without You** is Ringo's tribute to George, written shortly after George's death. It also features Eric Clapton, one of George's closest friends, and who also guested as guitarist on George's (*amazing*) Beatles track While My Guitar Gently Weeps. > 11. **Here Today** is Paul's tribute to John. I am proud to say I have seen Paul perform this live on stage, with a slideshow of him and John shown on the big screen. Not a dry eye in sight. > 12. **Now And Then** is the final of the three new Beatles songs based on a John demo. While they all worked on it back in 1994, the audio quality of the recording was too poor to be workable. This was recently fixed by Peter Jackson (!) thanks to a little Machine Learning Magic, allowing the track to finally be finished and released. It features a guitar solo played in the style of George, making it a tribute to both deceased Beatles members. The track is deeply personal to Paul, as the last words John ever spoke to Paul in person happens to be "Think about me every now and then, old friend."
